Aquaculture opportunities in East Africa

Exploring Aquaculture Investment Opportunities in East Africa

East African aquaculture is a nascent, though high-growth industry, showing potential for excellent commercial performance.

Aquaculture in East Africa has immense market potential. The industry is at an early stage and growing rapidly, having increased production by a compounded annual growth rate of 36% between 2017 and 2022 – from 11,000MT to 52,000MT, respectively. The sector shows strong potential for excellent commercial performance, with capacity to reach over 150,000MT in production by 2030.

Gatsby Africa has partnered with Agri Frontier Growth Hub to host a webinar to discuss the East African aquaculture opportunity covering successful business models in the sector, the market potential, and the prospects for strong commercial performance.

Gatsby Africa is a private charitable foundation that has supported the East African aquaculture sector for the past seven years to increase innovation, competitiveness, and growth in the sector. The Agri Frontier Growth Hub is a Business Development Hub supporting enterprises operating within the agriculture sector across East and West Africa.

To stimulate new, greenfield aquaculture investments into East Africa, Gatsby is seeking to engage high potential investors to drive awareness of the sector’s commercial attractiveness and explore opportunities thereafter to support investors looking to establish operations.

Entrepreneurs and organizations in agribusiness and beyond will benefit from this informational session and are invited to connect with Gatsby and/or Agri Frontier Growth Hub after the webinar if there is interest in engaging further.
